After 26 years, I still find His grace amazing. As for the Southerners list, there are very few on this list that I haven't done... never been to the Jazz fest or had b'fast at Brennans. However, I have had beignets and coffee at Cafe du Monde and blown powdered sugar on my friends more than once. Slawburger and Cheerwine definitely! Been to Southfork, but never to a party. Been on Daytona beach while others were driving on it (does that count?) I have driven over the Chattahoochee from PC to Col. while singing "Way Down Yonder...", does that count, too? Seriously, this list was a lot of fun. I will have to see if I can come up with my own. And I always talk southern y'all... cause I just can't help it!

Blessings,

The older I get the more I love the old hymns. I sing weekly with alzheimer's patients and the ones who seldom talk will sing and know all the verses of the old hymns and have sweet smiles on their faces. " It's joy unspeakable and full of glory", and HIS Word will not return void. Let's keep teaching our children and grandchildren these wonderful masterpieces that keep on giving.

I too love everything southern, especially our love for God, family, and country. It is a life of simplicity, honor, and service.

I love these hymns, and always sing them with my heart when we sing them at church, it's not very often but when we do the tears come down.
God Bless,

I can't even begin to tell you how much I miss the old hymns. I know so many of them by heart and still go around singing them. But we rarely, if ever, sing them at church anymore. Thanks for the post.

There is nothing like music to make my spirit soar. I'm so thankful that God gave us music and the ability to compose and sing and play such wonderful sounds. Thank you for this delightful post.
Blessings,

Hi Christi,
As much as I enjoy some of the newer songs today, it is the old hymns that bring me fond memories and a deeper, more meaningful worship. Thank you for your post and have a wonderful Sunday.

Blessings,
Sandi

Hi Christi...

So nice to see you again this week for Sunday Favorites, my friend! Great post!!! Ohhh...I love all the old hymns! I "cut my teeth" on them...so to speak! I was the Praise and Worship leader at our church for about 14 years...so I'm very familiar with all the old hymns. We sang many of the new Praise and Worship chorus'...which I love but we also sang the old hymns too! One of my favorites..."Just A Little Talk With Jesus". Are you familiar with it? I have really enjoyed all the old hymns that you have been sharing with us the last few weeks...thank you, Christi!!!

I also got a kick out of your list of "Things that all Southerners should do"! Living in south Texas for nearly 30 yrs...I still consider myself a southerner! Hehe! I have actually experienced several things from your list....ohhh, and don't forget...we have to add a "yeeeeeehawwww"!!!

Hope that you're having a super Sunday, my friend!

I think music speaks to all hearts---there is something so special about music and its link to the worship of God.

As far as Southern things go ---you must eat chickenbog when in SC..... Also have an outdoor picnic with music where the hounds are all howling. ....have fried turkey for Thanksgiving too!
