Welcome to A Southern Life – New Orleans Style!
A Southern Life was born in December 0f 2008 as a way for me to share what I believe are the best things about life in the South. The food, the seasons, the customs and the people. At that time, I was living in Arkansas. Eventually, my husband and I had the opportunity to follow a dream and moved to New Orleans. New Orleans is the city of my husband’s birth, and while he ended growing up in South Arkansas, he returned to New Orleans to attend under-graduate school at Tulane. It is thanks to him that I was introduced to, and fell in love with, New Orleans. With my very first visit here, I felt like I was “coming home.”
Now, I want to share with you, A Southern Life – New Orleans style. Too often, there are people who identify New Orleans as a Bourbon Street type of amusement park. That is too bad because, while we do have that in a small area, there is just soooo much more! If you are from New Orleans or have lived in New Orleans, you know what I mean. There are so many wonderful neighborhoods, all with their own feel and look and charm.
While New Orleans is certainly a Southern city, it also a sub-tropical city that has a Caribbean flavor. At the same time, it has been described as the Paris of the United States. It is truly a multicultural city that captures the heart and the imagination and won’t let go.
My friend, Cindy Bush who is a New Orleans native is joining me to reveal all the great gems New Orleans has to offer. So come join us and “Laissez les bons temps rouler” (Let the good times roll).
